All New Square Foot Gardening: Grow more in less space, by Mel Bartholomew

Finally read the whole thing. Can’t wait to get started. I especially can’t wait to see really big pumpkins and watermelons hanging from a net 6 feet in the air.

I think this is really fun that I am so excited about this and to find someone else who is trying it for the first time.
The cost of getting it all started does make me a little nervous but my previous gardens- if you can call them that- were a waste of money so either way… I really think this will finally be worth the investment.
A plug for the book- it IS worth the investment. We even paid $20 dollars for it a Barnes and Noble because I was so impressed with it just flipping the pages and I didn’t want to wait and order it on the internet. It has gotten me SO pumped! I might even try planting some of the things inside first.
The book is very fun and interesting.

I’m with you in thinking this will totally be worth the investment. Once you buy the dirt mix, you never have to do it again, right? I’m such a geek I started a gardening blog today! I know I said I did a gardening journal on paper, but I wanted somewhere to put pictures up online to show family (we’re out here alone) without bogging down the regular blog.

My SIL gave us that book for Xmas! I can’t wait until we get a house and I can start up a garden like that! I’m excited too

We give a square foot garden to our schools in Africa for winning competitions. In Nairobi, there was a specialist that lived there just to teach the locals how to do it. It is an amazing program. I haven’t done it, but I have seen with my own eyes how much it works.
I stink at gardening. Great find Julie.
